Journal Friday, May 9,1975 Visit North Platte OKd for Lease Group May Use Wild West Arena WEEKEND SPECIAL Every Saturday Sunday 1 5 TACOS for .30 North Platte of Wild West Investment Inc. this week approved an agreement making the Wild West Arena lease available to a new nonprofit group, Visit North Platte Inc. Attorney Don Kelley told the stockholders that Montie Montana who has produced the Wild West Show the past four years, has agreed to reassign the lease. The transfer would be subject to approval of the Nebraska Department of Economic Development, which owns the arena.

Kelley said the state has indicated it would approve the arrangements but that there is no guarantee Visit North Platte will pick up the lease. Keith Blackledge of the Visit North Platte board told the Wild West stockholders the lease has no value to the new group unless Good Idea! enough money can be raised to insure a show can be produced this summer. He did say response to a fund-raising campaign has been Under the agreement, the lease would be transferred to Visit North Platte when that group paid an initial $5,000 to Wild West Investment Inc. Another $5,000 would be due Aug. 31, 1975, and $1,800 a year would be paid for the next five years.

That would total $19,000. Kelley said the money would go to pay bills left from the 1974 Wild West Show. The agreement specifies salaries for show performers and workers would have first payment priority. The agreement also specifies Montana is released from the management contract which had existed between him and Wild West Investment. Last Wild West Show closed with more than $40,000 in outstanding debts.

Wild West Investment accountant Bill Ramaekers said the debt figure is currently about $32,000. Visit North Platte Inc. which is in the process of changing its name to William F. Cody Western Heritage Founda-. tion has proposed to put on a musical stage show rather than a Wild West type production.
