28 Lincoln, Neb. Journal Friday, May 2,1975 Seven More Join Beef Grading Case TfllNGS TO DO LINCOLN Friday All events free iinU'ss followed by Omaha (AP) U.S. District Court Judge Robert Denney okayed the entrance of seven more intervenors in a suit to block the U.S. Department of Agriculture from implementing new beef grading standards. The new guidelines were to have started April 14, but Denney issued a preliminary injunction halting their implementation.

The injunction request was submitted by the Independent Meat Packers Assn. of Omaha, which now asking Denney to permanently enjoin the government from starting the new standards. Given approval to enter the case Thursday were the Consumer Federation of America, National Consumers League, the Consumer Affairs Committee of Americans for Democratic Action, National Consumer Congress, Public Consumer, Amalgamated Meat Cutters and Butcher Workmen of North American (AFL-CIO), Service Employes International Union and American Federation of Teachers (AFL- CIO). State Affected By Petroleum Price Rollbacks Kansas City (AP) Fifteen petroleum distribution firms in Missouri, Nebraska, Iowa and Kansas have agreed to roll back prices to make up for overcharges totaling nearly $50,000, the Federal Energy Administration said Thursday. The biggest refunds will be made by two firms in rural areas of Missouri and Kansas, the FEA said.

Nebraska firms agreeing to the refunds, the FEA said, were: Farmers C(H)p. Pilger, $3,353, propane, Platte Valley Propane, Wood River, $4,406.76, propane; Zentner Oil Falls City, $1,091.16, propane; Cooperative Beaver Crossing, $2,494.78, propane, and Freeman Oil Herman, $1,684, propane. Carrier Myrtle Wood Dead at 95 Services for Myrtle Wood, former rural mail carrier in the Wabash area, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Roper Sons Mortuary. Miss Wood, 95, died Wednesday at Tabitha Home.

A former teacher, mail carrier and world traveler, Miss Wood hved for 84 years on her homestead northeast of Elmwood. She was a rural mail carrier for 30 years, often delivering the mail on horseback. After her retirement from the Postal service in the 1940s, she began her travels to foreign countries, continuing until she was in her late 80s. Miss Wood is survived by several nieces and nephews. Grand Island Civic Leader Ritchie Dead Grand Island (AP) Forrest Ritchie, 61, well known Grand Island civic leader, died Wednesday night in a local hospital following a lengthy illness.

He was the father of former Miss America Sharon Ritchie. She won the title in 1955, and now lives in New York City with her husband, Robert Foman. A native of Omaha, Mr. Ritchie, an insurance agent, moved here in 1941. He is survived by hii widow, Genevieve, two daughters, two brothers and four grandchildren.

All asked permission to enter on the side of the case. The National Association of Meat Purveyors, National Restaurant Assn. and the National Livestock Feeders Assn. had already been granted intervention rights on the side. Only one group, the American National has entered the suit on the side.

Attorneys for both sides met with Judge Denney Thursday for a pre-trial conference on how many witnesses and exhibits will be introduced and procedures for the tentative May 12 trial. Attorneys for three of the plaintiff-intervenors said they have asked the U.S. 8th Circuit Court of Appeals for a 31-day extension on the 45 days it gave Denney to try and rule in the case. Under the present Circuit Court mandate, Denney must make his ruling by June 1, but if the extension request is granted the final date would be July 1. A Circuit court spokesman in St.

Louis said the extension application has been received, but no date for hearing has been set. Judge Denney said the trial will be no shorter than five court days, but not longer than 10 court days, then ordered reporters out of the courtroom to let attorneys for both sides discuss compromise proposals for the legal procedures during the trial. Inquest Set Into 2 Deaths Ord (UPI) An inquest into the apparent murder-suicide Tuesday night of a rural Elyria woman and her daughter was scheduled here next week. Valley County authorities said. Authorities said there was no indication that anyone else was involved in the deaths of Mrs.

Lillian Kolar, 48, and her daughter, Dorothy Kolar, but, they said, an inquest would complete the investigation. The daughter was shot once in the back of the head with a .22 caliber rifle. Authorities said Mrs. Kolar apparently shot herself with the same weapon. Her body was found the following morning on a hillside behind the family farm three mUes west of Elyria.

Kolar told authorities that his wife and daughter had been arguing about a new coat for his daughter during dinner night. Kolar said he went to the field, and when he returned about 10 p.m., he said he found his body on the kitchen floor. Services were scheduled Friday afternoon in Ord.
