LINCOLN STATE JOURNAL, FRIDAY, AUGUST 7, 1936 FIFTEEN Days for the Price of 4 Days Starts -Phone Your Ad Now-B3333 MOST OMAHA CATTLE PRICES HOLD STEADY Broad Demand Aids Yearling Rise, Trade Active--Hogs Are Uneven. ESTIMATED FRIDAY RECEIPTS. Cattle Hogs Sheep Omaha 2,000 6,000 4,000 Chicago mean: 2,000 8,000 4,000 Kansas City 1,000 1,000 1,000 OMAHA. (P). Cattle: Receipts, 6,103.

There was but very little change in the market for fed steers and yearlings compared with the previous day, yearlings continuing in broad demand and were, consequently moderately active at fully steady to a little stronger prices even as compared with the improved prices of the earlier days of the week. Weighty steers and mediumweights were less active but met with a fairly ready sale, with prices mostly steady, the better grades fully steady, some short feds barely steady to easier. Heifers were in light supply and fully steady. Cows cleared readily at generally steady prices, the early rounds fairly active and, altho the activity was lost later, there was but little change and practically a complete clearance was made by shortly after noon. Bulls sold fully steadq.

Vealers were moderately active, steady to strong. Stockers and feeders were in very light supply and there was 8 ready clearance at generally steady prices. Hogs: Receipts, 7,223. The hog market turned out to be an all day affair. Shipping orders were broad on better grades of barrows and gilts 220.

lbs, down as well as underweights, but when clearance on that account was completed the trade abruptly turned dull with local waiting out the session for lower prices. Lightweight barrows and gilts turned 1 mostly on outside account early, going at fully steady, with some light lights showing a 5c to 10c advance, quality of that class being comparable with the improved level of Wednesday. Slaughter pigs turned at strong to 25c higher prices, getting the best action of the week. However, butchers 220 lbs. up moved local interests at mostly steady to 10c lower figures, the decline appearing a few mediumweights, some late bids being as much as 15c off.

The market was uneven enough that some strictly heavy butchers fully steady to firm. Sows were under the most pressure, shipping orders on that class being light. The opening was steady to 15c lower, but late bids and sales ranged 15c to 25c lower, with clearance incomplete. Shippers bought about 1,700 head. Sheep: Receipts, 6,017.

Receipts included 250 head direct. Salable supply 15 loads range lambs, 3 loads ewes, 3 loads mixed native lambs and ewes; about 15 percent feeders. Despite bearish wires from outside markets, broad local packer demand and some inquiry from shippers enabled sellers to hold prices fully, steady with the previous day classes. Representative Livestock Sales. Hogs.

Quick setbacks of Chicago grain values took place early Thursday, but with rallies following. An outstanding influence was the fact that for the first time of late the Liverpool wheat market failed to respond well to strength in North America. Improvement of European weather conditions was reported, and there were overnight showers in the United States corn belt. Opening 1 cent to off, September 1.12, December 1.12½ wheat then rallied. Corn started to 2 cents down, September 1.04% December and continued irregular.
