An open letter to all citizens of Lincoln Spring is an exciting time for high school students with proms, graduation and other activities. These events, however, are not without worry or concern. Parents and school staff want young people to have good limes. But they do not want these good times marred by misbehavior, accidents or injuries. For these reasons, we want everyone to know that we support strict adherence to the laws governing the use of alcohol and the distribution of alcoholic beverages to minors.

We call attention to Nebraska State Law which states: "A parent or other adult who furnishes alcohol to a minor is subject to a fine of up to $1,000.00 or one year in jail or both. (State Statute Why are we sharing these thoughts with you? 1. We want to discourage alcohol abuse that traditionally occurs at some home parties and youth gatherings at this time of year. 2. We want to encourage all caring Lincolnites to share in efforts to make the spring school season a safe and happy one for our students.

3. We want to thank those parents and friends who are currently working hard to provide alcohol-free social events.
